Summer Camp Summary: July 16-20

Our summer summaries highlight our key features, unique to Jackson Child Care, that go beyond basic child care services. How do we go above and beyond? We go way above and beyond because we prioritize experiential learning!

School’s out and Summer Camp is in!

Our kiddos are now exploring and learning from and within the community. As you can see, our kids love their fun daily field trips!

On Monday, our day was filled with fun and playful activities to include: circle time, outdoor play, and a field trip adventure. Our week also began on demand with a Camp Creativity adventure crafting music shakers! It is hard to believe that we are in our six weeks of Camp Creativity! In the midst of high attendance and participants waiting up to one hour, we are grateful for the Store Manager – Ms. Charmelle ( Mya’s Mom) securing space for our weekly participation with no wait time!

On Tuesday, we supported the kiddos summer learning with a fun educational and recreational field trip visit to the National Building Museum. The museum offers STEAM ( science, technology, engineering, architecture design, and mathematic) learning opportunities for all ages. The mixed age group had a blast engaged in activities in the following areas: Play and Build, Building Zone, The Fun House and The Beach. The Fun house is this year’s summer interactive exhibit. It is a part of the Summer Block Party series. The house is filled with discovery after discovery. Considering all of the fun to be had, we were so so so thankful for our parking privileges. We were allowed to park right outside the front of the museum!

Our Wednesday Six Flags field trip was awesome! The weather was perfect for spending a day in the park. Even though ours was a large group with 15 (five adults and 10 kiddos) individuals, everyone got to visit and engaged in their favorite areas of the park. Summer campers spent most of their time in the Looney Tunes Movie Town. The Great Race Antique Cars, the Carousel, Tea Cups, and the Ball Pit are still the favorite activities! The shared experience with Ms. Tasneem was very special! In addition to all of the fun rides, campers engaged in a meet and greet with the park’s famous characters

On Thursday, we went to the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center – Air and Space Museum. At the Air and Space Museum, Ms. Anne lead a “FLIGHTS OF FANCY” story time where she read Hare and Tortoise Race to the Moon by Oliver Corwin. After the reading of the story, everyone had an enjoyable time as Ms. Anne lead an imaginary guided journey through outer space. After our time at the museum we headed over to Bob Evans!

Friday morning, we started with our circle time unit titled “How to behave and why.” Today’s discussion centered around being honest and telling the truth. Additionally, kiddos worked on a Dot to Dot rocket activity which they later used to design remarkable art pieces. In the afternoon, the kiddos had a great time swimming and playing in the sand area at Pirate Cove Water Park!

That’s a wrap! Join us next week for another summary. Same place and time 🙂
