Summer Camp Summary: August 13- 17

Summer Camp Summary

The end of the summer is drawing near and this past week included goodbyes to two very special people a part of Jackson Child Care. We are grateful and thankful to all who have helped to make the JCC community so special.

On Monday, we attended “Dinosaurs Babies”, a stem-based puppetry program. We engaged the kiddos with music, skits and songs that encourage languages and comprehension skills. The kiddos were delightfully entertained with puppetry humor. The kiddos had fun and gained increasing vocabulary (ex. paleontologist), early literacy and early learning scientific foundational knowledge skills.  Presenters gave a personal introduction to Sam. Crash-Boom-Bam-Sam the baby Triceratops, Doris the Stegosaurus, Qiwi the Pteranodon and, Baby Rex, a meat-eating dinosaur.

On Tuesday, we had a fun, crazy day to be remembered as the best day ever! The kiddos had an all-around good time playing a lot of games, climbing, sliding, dancing with Chuck E. and eating pizza. All total we ate about four large pizzas!

On Wednesday, it was with mixed emotions that we said goodbye to Winter. Winter is a joy and she will missed! We made every effort to make this final Six Flags visit special for her. In addition to enjoying the rides with her friends, we shared a chicken fingers lunch served with a side salad and fries.

On Thursday, we were so thankful for Ms. Allie (Antonio’s Mom) for making possible our first fishing expedition. The expedition was fun and memorable. The kiddos expanded their vocabulary and learned while practicing how to cast a reel. On Thursday, we also said good bye to Ms. Ruth. Ms. Ruth has been with us since the beginning of June. She has been an exceptional camp counselor finding ways to support each child and every summer camp adventure. Her pleasing personality and presence made for a fun beautiful summer! We wish her a Junior success year at VCU. Thanks, Ms. Ruth!

On Friday, we had a day of rest. After an authentic family-style pizza dining, a few kiddos opted to go down for a nap. A few others wanted to watch Netflix Movies: We watched at least two movies-Despicable 3 and Beauty and the Beast. Just like the big movie theatre, we served popcorn and drinks. What a fun time!
